God chose the longer route to Canaan for the newly released Israelites and not the direct route, which would mean head-on battles with the Philistines. God’s agenda was very sensitive to His people’s limitations, even as His leading of His present new covenant people is sensitive. His goals are often quite different than ours. But they are always the best… if we are patient!
