Even as God took Israel from Egypt and intentionally brought them to Himself at Mt. Sinai, God brings us to purposeful destinations in our Roundabout Journey. It was there at this mountain that God revealed Himself to His people. It was both personal and powerful. There they learned (and experienced) who this loving, holy God was. This would be indispensable in their future journey as it is for us as God intimately unfolds His nature to us in our struggles and victories.
