In Pilate’s trial of Jesus, he communicates that he is disinterested in “the truth” and even tosses out a rather philosophical and rhetorical question, “What is truth?” He simply does not understand the gravity of Jesus’ answer to his original question, “Are you the king of the Jews?” – as King, Jesus came to testify to the truth. His entire earthly life focused on this. And what is this truth that Pilate believes is simply a silly religious squabble that the Jewish leaders have with Jesus? The answer has changed the trajectory of many lives since!
