When Israel had finished their 40-year roundabout journey through the wilderness, learning the necessary lessons about complete reliance upon God, they entered the promised land, ready to take it as God had directed. Upon consecrating themselves to the Lord and the divine mission they were about to embark upon, God told them He was rolling away the shame of Egypt and its slavery. The implications of this for us today are numerous and profound.
