The kingdom of Judah played politics after King Josiah died, siding with one oppressive nation or the other, hoping to gain some reprieve. They soon discovered, however, that politicking completely missed the point of what God was calling them to. But it was too late. There was no remedy left for them. God’s messengers had made His plan clear to them, but it was too hard to hear above the din of selfish ambition’s frantic scrambling. Though politics most certainly has its place for God’s people, what is it that He truly desires above all else? May that be our heart’s desire as well!
