Obadiah is told to prophesy against Edom, the epitome of both God’s and Judah’s enemies. As such, the nation is condemned but is told that God’s kingdom will one day reign over it, thereby becoming a picture of God’s ultimate victory found in the new covenant gospel. Is this our perspective of our enemies? Is it redemptive? Or do we cast hope aside in our demand for justice?
