Dear Meredith,

Thank you for ministering to me last night at Cheryl's house. It was insightful, motivating and encouraging. Thank your husband and children as well for sharing their mama!

I have done things very traditionally with my first child and packed in her volunteering, computer interests, piano, guitar and worship band on top of it all. Her physical and emotional health has suffered. It is a 2 year story of how her body decided to deal with the stress (hair loss, weight loss, etc) and a mother that was bent on traditional transcripts. We are working through it and are on the other side. She graduates this year and has been accepted to Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn. Her interest is musical technology, although the department head of the music department wants her to major in performance. We are headed for auditions in Feb.

You mentioned something about a sound seminar by chem key? Could you send me a link to that info when you get a chance? It may be something that she would like to experience before making her decisions.

The next two daughters will have a different plan, thanks to the tools you so freely minister.

So glad that you were helped!! There is so much too do—I always want to do it all!! But, of course, we can’t do it all. We need to live peaceful lives that include being HOME—thus the name HOMEschooling!

Here is Kempke’s web site—they have sound seminars in the Orlando area that your daughter can attend. Be sure to document for high school credit! Also, have her consider being part of the sound team at church! What a blessing our sound crew is at Powerline!!!

Thank you very much for taking the time to speak with us last night. I look forward to going through all of the information on your website and learning more. It is always encouraging to hear from a woman who has walked the road before me!

I had a question come to mind about designing a course for my daughter. We are very involved as volunteers at the UCF/Shakespeare theater. One of the really neat benefits of volunteering there is we get to see shows multiple times if we want to. This year we have already seen Frankenstein and we will see King Lear in a few months. My question is this - can I design a course say in Shakespeare Lit and have it transpire over multiple years? That way we could study whichever Shakespeare shows the theater is doing and then have the ability to see the play multiple times. They only do 2 Shakespeare shows a year though, so it would be wonderful if I could stretch the course out over 2-3 years. Is it a no-no to take 2 years to complete a 1/2 hour credit?

What a great thing to be involved in with your daughter! I never liked Shakespeare very much and my daughter fell in love with it through a class with another mom. The secret: Shakespeare was meant to be acted out!

The answer to your question is YES!!! You can take as long as you want to do a class. You could consider it a Literature class by having her read several Shakespeare plays and adding some writing assignments. Or you could make it a Fine Arts class and just focus on the drama aspect. Or you could simply make Shakespeare an elective class that is a combination of both or more eclectic. It would look really impressive to colleges however you package it—Shakespeare is always good! More importantly, his writing is timeless and is what meant to be performed so your daughter will be getting a great education with what you are already doing. Whatever you add will simply make it better.

I have stretched classes out over two years, especially PE or art classes!
